Term F.A.Q.
How many classes do I have to attend?
Very easily here on The Wizard's Labyrinth Students are to attend at least four classes. You may sign up for whatever four and attend the four you sign up for. You must attend those four classes throughout the year to gain enough credit to move up to the next year, or graduate.
Is there a set limit of classes I need to pass?
Yes there is a set limit of classes you must pass to move up to the next year or if your a seventh year to graduate. With the attending of four classes you must pass four classes.
Do I have to sign up for classes and where do I sign up?
Yes, you must sign up for classes. You have to sign up at least four, although you may sign up for more. If you do not sign up for a class you can not take that class. Professors are to post sign ups in there class and leave it open for the whole term. After the fifth lesson they can close it and make the Term 2 sign ups for their class.
How many lessons are there and do I have to attend them all?
There will be 5 lessons ever term. Now, we ask you attend all but, not attending will make you not get any credit for that lesson and can bring down your grade to pass that class. If you have a OOC reason why your not going to be here for that lesson then you are to PM a staff member so we can alert that professor and the other Professors who have you in their class that you can't attend. This will not affect your grade.[/blockquote]
Is there a Final Exam?
Yes, there will be a final exam. Instead of having the fifth lesson as the final exam, we will hold a final exam after the fifth lesson in the Great Hall. More information on the Final Exam will come closer to the ending of the fifth lessons.
How long does each Lesson last?
Each lesson will last approximately 12 days. Each term will last 60 days. Each year will last 120 days. If problems arise due to this set up, we may alter these numbers.
Is there Homework?
No. Homework will be optional and only if the Professor provides it. If a student does homework then they will get 'extra credit' (what that extra credit is will be up to the Professor) and have a higher grade.
Do, I have to pass the exam as well to pass the class?
This is up to the Professor grading the exam. If you had done exceptionally well through the school year, but not so well on the final exam, you may still pass.
How do you pass a class?
Passing a class depends on the Professor's expectations. However, generally, a student must attend the class and participate in some way (meaning you post in the roleplay).
What do the Professors have to grade?
What the Professor grades is up to the Professor, however generally the professor will be grading on Participation, Attendance, and Effort (as in, how much effort you put in your post).
How many final exams will I have to take?
It all depends on how many classes you signed up for. If you took 4 classes you will have 4 different exams for each class. If you take 6, then you have 6 exams. However, you are only required to pass 4 classes. So if you signed up for more than four classes, then you may skip taking one of the final exams, as long as you take four final exams.
Who makes the final exams?
The Professor will make their own final exam and the Professor will grade the final exam. However, if needed, the Administration will get involved in the grading process if we feel the test and the grading system is unfair.
Do Professors have to keep Grade-books?
Yes, the Professors must keep some sort of grade-book so the students may keep track of how they are doing in class. Also, it helps the Professor keep track of the students and will overall help when you have to make the final grade.
What if I didn't have a reason and missed a Lesson?
If you never gave an Administrator an excuse for not being able to attend a lesson then you will receive no credit for that lesson. If you come back, but never gave a excuse before you left or couldn't attend a lesson then we will have the professor excuse you for that lesson. This means you will gain no credit, but you also will lose no credit. If we find that you are still posting throughout the forum but not in your lessons and you have not given an excuse, you will not credit.
Do Professors have to have a lesson plan?
Yes, we ask that Professors post a lesson plan in there classrooms along with sign ups so the Administration and others know what the Professor will be doing for that lesson and term.
Do Professors have to keep a class Rooster?
Yes, Professors must keep a class rooster. A class rooster is simply a list of all the students who have signed up for your class. This is for organization purposes as well as to allow other members to see who is attending that class.
I'm a Professor and I was inactive for a Term. What happens now?
If the Administration feels that a Professor has not done their job correctly, there is a chance that that Professor will be fired. However, more than likely the Professor will be warned. If the Professor is inactive for three or more classes in one term, however, without an excuse, the Professor will be fired.
What happens if you fail and not pass 4 classes?
If you do not past four classes without a legitimate excuse, you will not proceed forward. For example, if you were a sixth year, you would continue to stay a sixth year when the new year begins. If you are a seventh year, you will not graduate from Hogwarts and must repeat the year.
Does the Term count as one school year?
No. A school year consists of Two Terms.
How long is the term?
A term is 5 lessons, which means 60 days. A year will be 120 days. After the year is complete, final exams will begin as well as summer vacation. Final exams must be completed by the end of summer vacation.
